Mozilla AI Is Here To Destroy ChatGPT

Source: Mozilla

Mozilla is launching a new company called Mozilla AI with the goal of creating an “open-source, trusted AI ecosystem.” Veteran AI researcher and researcher Moez Draief is at the helm of the new venture, and Mozilla is providing seed funding in the amount of $30 million.

Mozilla AI Is Here To Destroy ChatGPT – How?

Despite the success of brands like ChatGPT, Bing, Dall-E, as well as Stable Diffusion, they are being used to spread false information, which in turn leads to issues with deepfakes and copyright infringement.

In addition, they are beginning to alter how the web operates. There are far-reaching implications for privacy protection, copyright, and other areas if chatbots become our main platform for information and inspiration. Although it has been keeping tabs on this space (its 2020 white paper “Creating Trustworthy AI” is still frequently cited), Mozilla has largely refrained from contributing to actual products in this space. It is now actively participating in the industry, hoping to shape it not only through policy but also through its offerings.

While Mozilla is keen on promoting the growth of communities and ecosystems, it is clear that the organization also considers artificial intelligence to be an important part of Firefox’s future.

Final Thoughts On Mozilla AI

The timing of this announcement is also noteworthy. Both Bard and Bing clearly have a vested interest in keeping their experience closed, as they are owned and operated by two of the largest tech companies.

When it comes to sharing details about its models and training data, even OpenAI, which had previously promised to be the kind of open ecosystem Mozilla is talking about, has recently become much more secretive.

It appears that Mozilla has come to the conclusion that it may be the only company capable of advocating for a new approach to developing AI. Can it destroy the legacy of ChatGPT or will this be a flop startup?
